The first new space invader of 2009 of AmsterInvader is an outlined Pac Man. The location chosen is slightly hidden and the colors used match the background – just to find out if now they will last longer than space invaders which are more obviously visible to the public.
Also the tile glue used is stronger than what has been used during previous invasions usual. This glue is suitable for outdoors and wet areas – like swimming pools and therefor much stronger. Downside is that it is more difficult to invade since the glue used is hard to apply on both Space Invader as on the location to-invade. Invasions are only succesful when finished in 20 minutes or less.

The location of this mothership (with 3 mirror tiles) was on my list for 2 years. AmsterInvader awaited however the renovation of the building on this corner. The reason of the fact that this one is placed a bit crooked is that the weather conditions were very windy during this invasion.

AmsterInvader came up with the idea of invading this location right after the invasion of AI_128 about 300 meters down the road. It’s not a co-production together with the largest supermarket chain of the Netherlands but it’s blinking to most of its customers and people passing by. Even people from the train are able to have a glimps of this one.

The AI_135 is AmsterInvader’s first appearance on a motorway. This location is the gateway to Amsterdam coming from the direction of Utrecht by car and visible for more than 50.000 cars passing by each day. AmsterInvader had this spot in mind for more than 2 years but it never became reality. With 456 tiles used this is the biggest space invader made by AmsterInvader ever. The eyes are made with reflecting material to make this space invader an interesting object at night as well.

This spot was literally screaming for a taylor-made space invader. Space invaders are made on beforehand and often without a certain location in mind. This location is one the examples that a space invader is made for a specific location. In this case size and colors are matching with the building.
The Nassauplein is one of the busiest junctions West of the center and this building is a landmark for a lot of Amsterdam people due to the strange object on its roof.

Just one minute after AmsterInvader installed this mirror eyed space invader on the wall of the entrance of the Westerpark a police car on patrol drove by and entered the park. AmsterInvader was still packing its invasion kit and wanted to take some photos of the final result. Taking pictures was not a very smart thing to do at the moment so AmsterInvader went further on to the next location to invade: AI_132.

AmsterInvader put this space invader on the wall during the construction works of the metro. The station Waterlooplein was closed and this location was hidden away behind a fence (see picture below). A great opportunity to invade this place. A couple of days after the invasion the fence was gone and the space invader has a perfect spot.

After a test with reflecting eyes on AI_117 (Prinseneiland) AmsterInvader made a full reflecting space invader and put it on a high traffic location. Best viewed at night from a car with headlights on.
